Women's Tennis Win Big on the Road
ORLANDO, Fla. - Southern Miss omen's tennis won its second neutral site match of the season in a 7-0 win against Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Southern Miss won doubles play after a default win on court 3 and Elena Roca and Lara Isis De Oliveira's 6-3 win on court 2.
The Golden Eagles took a quick 3-0 lead after Anastasia Cobanovic and Claudia Castella won by default on courts 5 and 6. Roca remains undefeated in singles play and improved to 12-0 on Sunday defeating Anamaria Vladescu 6-1, 6-1.
Tjasa Jerse improves to 11-2 and extended her win streak to four matches with a 6-2, 6-1 win on court 3. Sunday's win makes her 8-1 on court 3 play.
Freshman Arina Amaning won her fifth match on court 1 in straight-set fashion, 6-3, 6-4. The freshman has competed every singles match on court 1 this season.
Rikeetha Pereira's eight-match win streak was extended on Sunday with a 6-1, 6-4 win. Pereira currently posts the second longest win streak for the Golden Eagles and is tied with Roca for the most singles wins this season.
Southern Miss faces NIU on Tuesday, March 13 at 2 p.m. NIU is currently 4-7 on the season and sits on a three-match losing streak before Tuesday's match.
