HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss cross country head coach Aaron Kindt announced the release of his team’s 2017 schedule Wednesday.
“We return a very young, talented team, so there is a lot of excitement going into this year, said Kindt. “Our schedule is challenging one.”
The Golden Eagles finished fourth at the C-USA Championships last season, tying the school record.
The squad gets started on Sept. 1 in Clinton, Miss., at the Mississippi College Opener. Two weeks later the team will travel north to Oxford, Miss., to compete in the Rebel Cross Country Invitational taking place on Sept. 15.
“This is an opportunity for us to see some of the best competition in the country, continued Kindt. “This exposure we hope will prepare us to compete for championships this fall and on the track this spring.”
On Sept. 29 the team will travel to South Bend, Ind., to run in the Notre Dame Invitational. They will conclude the regular season in Tuscaloosa, Ala., on Oct. 13 at the Crimson Classic.
Southern Miss is the host for the 2017 Conference USA Cross Country Championship, an event last hosted in 2012. The championship is being held in Clinton, Miss. on October 28.
The NCAA South Regional Championship with be hosted by University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, on Nov. 10.
