Warren Earns All-American Honors at 2018 NCAA Indoor Track Championships
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – John Warren joined an elite group on Saturday evening. The junior earned All-American honors after finishing sixth at the 2018 NCAA Indoor Championships.
“John was great today,” said head coach Jon Stuart “He handled the pressure really well and came away with an excellent series of jumps. I am extremely proud of him and the way he represented the Golden Eagles.”
Warren, with a mark of 16.31m claimed sixth place in his final indoor meet of the season after setting a school record earlier this year and breaking a C-USA Indoor Championship Meet record. He also was named C-USA Field Athlete of the Year earlier this season.
“Our goal for the meet was to be All-American and it is an amazing feeing to achieve that goal at the biggest meet of the season, said assistant coach John Ellis. “I am so proud of John for all he has battled through on and off the track this past year. He is a tremendous athlete and hasn’t shown one ounce of weakness this year. He proved that he is one of the best in the country and I could not be more proud to be his coach.”
The Golden Eagles have wrapped their indoor season up and now point focus on outdoor. Southern Miss heads to Mobile, Ala. to compete in the Jaguar Classic, hosted by South Alabama, beginning on March 16.
